It’s either that or 7mx4 or 5 years. I honestly think the pens are better off with this ^ deal because by 2025 does it really matter what he’s making? They’ll more than likely be rebuilding and for the next year or 2 he’s an important piece

Letang has been fantastic this season, but man that contract could stink.

In about 3 years the Penguins are going to be god awful. His contract won't matter at that point. Just sign him and hope something good happens in the next two years lol.

I’d probably do that. Letang keeps himself in great shape and when Crosby retires is when that contract will look bad and it won’t matter at that point. We also just signed the 6th best college free agent today in Andonovski. So the pens keep killing it with the great free agent signings, they can probably send his contract off to Arizona at that point or some rebuilding team with a pick for a scrub Ahl player to get them to the cap floor and not waste a spot on the team.

As for the garland deal. Hell no. I’d do Kapanen and a prospect for him but not Marino. Marino is way more value than Garland. No matter how much that hurts Canucks fans feelings.

Never once said that haha. I do see a stream of proposals coming in from Pit fans looking to get some scoring help by trading Marino though. I've chatted with them and they have their reasons. It could certainly happen.

Sure anything can happen. I could also hit the lottery tomorrow. I don’t see it happening though. Playoff contenders don’t destroy their top 10 defense mid season for a middle 6 winger. That’s pretty counterproductive because they typically value defenseman more for playoff runs. Maybe in the offseason if they can replace Marino. But I still doubt it. Cause that’s a big ask.

The pens faithful has been flip flopping between the two and both would help in a major way. But boeser’s QO is scary. Pens wouldn’t be able to afford bringing some guys back including rust which would create another hole they’d have to fill. With Garland he essentially takes Marinos contract and they don’t have to sacrifice any of their UFAs. To keep boeser they’d have to make moves to get rid of zucker and/or one of Matheson or petty
