Rangers Next Year

Created by: FrannyMan1

Description
I don't know how realistic some of these trades are or if the Rangers would even want to move a guy like Trouba, but I would be pretty happy with this roster next year. I think you'd have 3 legit lines and a 4th that can actually do what the Rangers want the current 4th line to do. Also getting rid of Trouba frees up room for Nils and makes 3 balanced defensive pairs. What do you think?

Additional Details:
Could we get a 1st, maybe even a 2nd for Trouba with his contract? I don't think you'd necessarily have to give picks to get rid of him, but could you get a pick as high as 1st/2nd or would it have to be something more in the middle rounds given the contract.

I think the ONLY way you’d get something for Trouba would be if he only costs half price
I can’t see anyone actually “wanting” him at $8mil per

I do think there’s a handful of teams that you could PAY to take him at that dollar amount
But they aren’t just gonna do u guys a favor for free

Trouba’s play doesn’t dictate he’s a “Cap dump”
But his contract does

Think about it….
what EXACTLY is in it for Buffalo (or Ottawa, Arizona, etc) ?
Sure, they get a decent 2nd pair guy
But why would they give up a 1st or 2nd- or even ANYTHING-
when they could get a guy MUCH cheaper to fill that spot??

For the teams that have the room to take on Trouba,
it just doesn’t make sense for them to do it unless you’re giving them additional value to do so

Bottom line:
Trouba may not be “bad”
But his contract is “horrendous”

Yeh I think the Trouba trade is a little bit of wishful thinking on my part, both that the Rangers would get rid of him in the first place and that we could get that kind of return for him. I do think we should get rid of him to free up the cap and the young guys on defense. Do I think that the Rangers would do it is another story. As far as the return, I think you could probably get one of the cap-floor teams to consider picking him up. I'm not sure what the return would be or maybe he could even be part of the Chychrun trade and maybe you take out the 3rd and Nemeth and get rid of Nemeth some other way. More of a post talking about what I wish they would do, as opposed to what I think they will actually end up doing.

The first thing you have to ask yourself before you think about anything else is will Trouba waive his NMC? The answer is no.

And you’ve also gotta get Trouba to waive his NTC
I’m quite sure ALL of the “Cap floor” teams are in his 15 team no trade list

It’s 100% wishful thinking
You’re most likely stuck with him

Two NTCs that would change these trades a lot

1. Kane will be able to pick where he wants to go (I am sure nearly any team would find space for him at $5m). Blackhawks won’t be able to create a market, so the cost will be a lot lower. Similar thing to Taylor Hall last year.

2. Trouba took less money to add the NTC so his wife could work in NYC. He would also likely pick his next city if he wanted to leave (or she were to work elsewhere). If it came to that, the return might not be more than a 2nd or 3rd.

And Georgiev is probably a non-tender candidate. So may have to move him by deadline or watch him walk.

Hilarius that you're trying to copmpare Kane to Hall, but regardless of that, the leverage the hawks would have is that Kane has said he wants to retire a hawk and chase 1st on the all time points list (just got sole possession of 2nd last night). I don't see a situation happening where he demands a trade out of chicago and only will waive for one team

Yeh I think the Trouba trade is a little bit of wishful thinking on my part...
Let me be the fly in the ointment.
Trouba is 28 yo and he will be only 32 when his $8,000,000 contract expires.
Letang IS 32 and many people see him as a target RHD for next year.
Trouba has 9 goals (11 best in the NHL), Letang has only 6.
If Buffalo could get him for the last first round pick (FLA) or their 2022 second, it would be a great deal.
I could only salivate thinking of Dahlin/Trouba top pairing.
But we know this will never happen as he has a no trade contract. I do not want to say the Rangers are stuck with him because he is a very good RHD.
