Blue Jackets 2022-23

Description
This 2021-22 year has shown that we have good enough offence and it keeps building from within. Our problem zone is the defence and once it is fixed our goaltending gets automatically better.

So basically Korpisalo is switched to Tarasov and Domi is replaced by Kent Johnson. The biggest add has to be one good defender on the right side and i am aiming on Connor Murphy, the local Ohio kid from rebuild-starting Chicago. Other moves are not necessary. Trust the process and fix the holes on the run.

We are quite bulked on the wing, but if we are not going to the playoffs 2022-23 then Nyquist is easy to move as a rental in the trade deadline 2023. Then Texier might take his icetime naturally?

here's how I see it, they're "rebuilding" but skipping the build and develop your d-core phase (which usually happens first). In fact they are very likely going to be doing a rebuild similar to NYR where it's only like ~2 years long since they already have a large amount of the pieces they need and a decently deep pool to make make the needed changes

This is a ... strange response... Murphy would definitely fit nicely with Werenski, and a lot of other offensive-minded top-pairing defenseman. Probably why they wouldn't just trade him for a pick and a prospect, right? He also just signed an extension in the offseason with Chicago so I can't really see much merit to this at all

I like where your head is at, but I'd also be skeptical of the Blackhawks trading Murphy. If they will, tho, definitely get in on that.

If not him, a similar player would be welcome, too...

Murphy might be a piece they wont part ways with, but Murphys extension was made under different management and in different situation. Now the new GM in Chicago has said that they will be rebuilding. My trade assumption was made based on that.

With Murphy's extension, his value would be a 1st + unless that 1st was our own from this years.

I would imagine Jarmo will get a first out of Domi. Then I could see him flip that to Chicago. Murphy in some sense, won’t work in Chicago if they rebuild. I assume Murphy would want to win and Chicago is no where near that. I expect to see Kane moved in the off-season. They will likely hold on to Toews since he is the captain.

definitely some validity, My opinion on Kane differs. Whilst I believe there would be a market, I think he is chasing the legacy now and wants to be the blackhawks all time leader overtaking Stan the Man. Murphy is a piece I believe that could move at some stage, praying he is okay after the hit he took a couple of days ago. I think it would be have to be a beneficial offer for us to move and it would have to include a 1st or an up and coming D prospect who is projected as a top 4.
