Agreed, definitely overpayment from TOR. Take out Niemela.

No way that gets it done. It’s close to fair value wise until you take into account salary retention and taking back Mrazek. Islanders are already in a tough spot cap wise.

It doesn’t even work cap wise in the long term. Team has to pay Dobson a lot this off season. Islanders say no.

1 year of keumper with retention to $3.5m got a 1st + timmins. so varly for 2 playoff runs plus retention to $2.5m should be 1st + robertson, maybe slightly less. then you have to dump mrazek which should be worth more than niemela. i think the trade is pretty fair. the leafs got themselves in a goaltending cluster**** so i think the isles and uncle lou have a ton of leverage here.

Leafs would buy Mrazek out before giving out all of these assets for 1.5 years of varlamov.

It absolutely works if Dobson signs a bridge deal, which I'd bet he will.

He’s gonna want Barzal money on a bridge deal.

I’m assuming that you know Mrazek can’t be bought out until the end of the year. Either way you have to go all in to keep Mathews happy.

Very well aware, he'll be the backup until the end of the year anyway.

Kuemper is a worse goaltender than Varlamov. Also Arizona only retained a million dollars for one year. The Islanders aren’t retaining 2.5 M in salary and taking back Mrazek’s deal at 3.8 M. I can’t see Lou doing that and personally I don’t think it’s worth it.

I would assume the Islanders take Mrazek back in any deal. Also I don’t think Varlamov is willing to go to Toronto.

That's fine. Two good prospects and a 1st for 1.5 years of Varlamov with no guarantee he will perform better here is not a deal I'm making.

It’s all about Greene and Chara in terms of performance. Lou is a terrible GM which I’m sure we can all agree on. The main issue is about the salary retention, the Mrazek contract and the NHL readiness/viability of the prospects offered in this deal.

They don’t when you include new deals for Dobson Barzal and eventually Wahlstrom.

Is this strike 2 or 3 for you? I lost count. They don’t have the money. Let it go.

Lmao. I’m just saying Dobson will cost 7 a year on a bridge deal. It adds up quickly and I’d rather maintain cap flexibility. If you want to set money on fire that’s your prerogative. I don’t think anyone would retain 50% of Varly’s salary and take back Mrazek.

That is literally false. Looking at his numbers he’s gonna ask for something around Barzal on his bridge deal

You realize you are on a website which tracks the contracts of NHL players and you were still wrong.
