a lot of this is a stretch. There are reports of Kane leaving and Debrincat following him out the door after the Hagel trade. This team is also way way too young and they will finish the year off with this roster, while they add a veteran presence in free agency.

Target better from LA. I don’t think Vilardi should be a piece coming back. He’s strome2.0

Our top picks in 2022 and 2023 shouldn’t be in play unless it is a significant player coming back ..

@GeneralLandro, That makes sense however the ducks seem to be very interested in Kubalik in the report, and there is the belief that Davidson is staying firm on a second-round draft pick. I don't really understand why the ducks are in on Kubalik, but the report says they are.

@delneggs, The rangers are giving up 2 picks that they don't need at all and are giving up a prospect in Kravtsov that has said that he won't play for them and his value is rock bottom right now. They are also getting Nils Lundquist is a good prospect that might become a top 4 dman, which the rangers already have a ton of. The big piece of course is Kappo Kakka, which must be included since they're getting Patrick Kane at half retained for 1.5 years at least. This is the type of deal that turns the rangers from a fringe playoff team to a Stanley Cup contender.

No it isn't IMO. In my view, it turns a rebuilding team on the right path into an older team with less young talent and a less bright future. The Rangers are MORE THAN just Kane away from being a legit cup contender this season like the AV's, Lightning, Panthers and Hurricanes. What this trade would do is maybe get them a few more playoff wins but to do that they give up 3 very young, talented players, a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick. NO THANKS. The Rangers are still building and are on track to be a very good team and a legit cup contender over the next few seasons, and this trade would set that back in a big way. Kakko isn't going anywhere. Lundqvist is a very good prospect and will bring back a nice return or he could still be a part of them team if he or Schneider move to LD. Kravstov will be traded, but there is no rush to do it because he has ZERO leverage. Bottom line is Drury knows all this and is being patient and is slowly improving the team. He's not going to give up multiple young assets just to try to win a few more playoff games. Keep Kane, the Rangers say NO THANKS but thanks for asking.

@delneggs, fair argument, but with jones and Schneider there is no reason to have Lundquist. Kravtsov's spot will also be taken by Blais once he comes back and Kakkos's spot will be taken by Kane who is elite still and will be elite for many more years alongside Panarin. They also get Kane half retained which in my eyes makes this a fair deal for both teams. The assets that are in this deal are young, but there is no spot for them or they can be replaced for a better elite player, which is Kane who brings lots of playoff experience to the team.

Don't agree. Lundqvist may still make the team if he or Schneider moves to LD. It's a possibility. It's not settled between Jones and Lundqvist yet. Kakko isn't going anywhere, he is young and is learning to play a solid 200 foot game, there is no reason to trade him. Adding Kane only hurts them in the long run and also keeps them from having any shot at signing Strome or another 2C. Trading for Kane is short sighted and I see no reason to do it. The Rangers are just now getting back to a playoff team and their focus should be to continue to build with the draft and developing young players so they will be legit contenders for the next several years, not just one or two.
