WSH
  1. Barabanov, Alexander
  2. Middleton, Jake
Additional Details:
out of the 4 Metro teams in the playoffs the Caps have the most Goals For and the most Goals Against. Mids could help there a lot while adding more sandpaper to the team. Barabanov having a breakout year with 31 points and 7 ppp. He is fast, durable and is a dynamic passer. Good secondary scoring for the Caps.

Are the Caps really in a position where they need to move Sprong and a first for a middle 6 forward and a bottom pairing defense man?

Id be more interested in Nieto than Cogliano. I think hes the better player and he already knows a lot of COL players, plus they fit the same 'bottom 6F + PK' role

Barabanov for a 2nd + Sprong is ideal but MF Hagel got such an overpayment that it would be nearly impossible to argue with any trade / value going forward. BC got a 1st + lol like you could tell me Barabanov got traded for a 1st 2nd + prospect and i would believe it at this point

nope... since MAntha has come back they are 7-0-1 *might be 6-0-1. they are getting hot at the right time and i wouldnt touch that roster...might look to trade Eller bc McM looks amazing right now

Nieto would cost more being that he's got another year at only 850k.

How much more do you think? A mid round pick would do it imo

I don't like trading Middleton & Barabonov. They're guys who have proven that they cant handle top4/6 minutes on very cheap deals. These are the kind of players the Sharks need to have if they are trying to compete with so many big contracts locked in.

depending on how many teams are bidding for him I think he can get a 4th. His PK efforts this season have been nothing short of elite.

We need picks. Clearly this is not the team to get us to the next level, players have to move. "more of the same" isn't getting it done.

But seeing how many teams are overpaying for depth this deadline and the fact that we got a 3rd for a near totally useless Marleau last year maybe it's a 3rd even.

A 3rd is still fine with me, I think thats a competitive offer. COL doesnt have a 4th for a couple years anyway

You guys are crazy good. Let us back in in the 3rd but it's clear the only missing piece for you is in your bottom six. Only better team I've seen us play is the Cats.

my issue is that the Capitals are playing really well and there isnt really a need to insert a guy and mess with the chemistry they have going now...Oshie isnt hurt long term. i honestly would look to trade Eller and move forward w this team

COL might only have one more deal left to make this TDL.
I think they are looking for a bigger impact guy than Cogliano (Nieto would be better)

Nieto is one guy I am not opposed to keeping, one more year at 850k and has been awesome this year defensively. If the return is nice then fine. How about Kaut and a 4th.

i looked at the numbers and they are slightly worse than i expected from my eye test.
Probably just a pick, no Kaut for Nieto to be honest

his plus/minus is bad cause he gets 90% dzone starts against top lines and he plays on a bad team. He will get more than you think. It's a team stat more than individual. His PK numbers are excellent.

looking moreso at xGF% and xGA% while on the ice but hard to judge because the on ice goaltending sv% hes been getting is like .88%...
