Colorado runs away with that deal considering where they'll likely draft lol, especially with retention.

Minnesota is going to be cap strapped the next few seasons with the Suter/Parise buyouts. I don't think it's in their best interest to acquire Dvorak with Rossi really close to becoming an everyday NHLer.

I don't think Colorado is trading another 1st for a bottom 6 guy, if they're trading a 1st, they're going after Rakell. Makes no sense when Florida moved a 1st for Giroux and Boston moved a 1st for Lindholm.

COL accepts but Dirty Dangle disagrees with this take because they think a 2nd is enough to get the deal done and we aren’t arguing about it

Lehkonen is not a bottom 6 forward, he’s actually a middle 6 forward who is a better player than Rakell (similar EV offense and WAYYYYYYY better EV defense (he’s a monster defensively) while both having similar PPGs), he’s cheaper and he’s an RFA. Colorado has also been interested in Lehkonen for years, I don’t see why they’ll go for Rakell instead of him.

Fair argument for the MIN deal though

Lehkonen is currently on MTL's 3rd line, so yes, he's a bottom 6 forward. Considering MTL's asking price for him, he probably isn't much cheaper than Rakell.

middle 6 = 2nd and 3rd line and by cheaper i mean contract wise, not trade value

Barron and a 2nd was a steep price for Lehky but he'll be a good fit (Nichushkin type player - strong two ways)
