He’s on the sh*tiest team in that league, he will be fine. He’s more of a playmaker anyway, never been a big goal scorer

Reimer is on a reasonable contract and has been a solid goalie. He’d be a good back up goalie that Sully can trust to start a good amount of games rather than playing Jarry so often. Matt Nieto would be a decent bottom 6 PK role kind of guy. Not to mention San Jose’s PK has been one of the best in the league and Nieto is on the PK unit. The only problem here is they are rentals but their cap hit wouldn’t be bad at all. $2.25M for Reimer and $850K for Nieto.

one of the best PK guy (look at his statistics ok the pk) in the NHL making 100k over league min and one of the best 1B goalies in the NHL making 2.15 mil for a 2 nd seems more than fair. if PIT declines there will be other teams lining up for that trade.

I would balk from Strome unless we can deal Labanc’s contract. with this we have zero for injury replacements and Meier’s next contract.

Aho is a poor man’s Ferraro and i would rather we keep megna and let him Kinazev and Hatakka a chance. worst case senario we keep Vlasic 1 more year to mentor Merkley on the 3rd pairing.

Eklund is hand strung on a bad bad team that won’t be in the SHL next year. he would be better here with talent around him but i agree with you he could use 1 year in the AHL to regain his confidence but his talent is NHL ready.

My idea with this is center depth while Bordeleau gets a little more time to get ready while boosting Labancs trade value to move him. After that I’d move Bordeleau to 3C and Strome to wing. Either way they are kinda fudged with the cap. And that’s without the Kane fallout

yea i figure 1.5 to 2 mil will be the Kane fallout but with NHL agreeing with the termination it may be zero. and if were concerned about giving Bordaleau 1 more year i say we keep Bonino, hes not great but isn't the worst option, and would look at someone like Rodriquez from PIT, he is a 1 year wonder but has the skill to replicate this years success is a RHS that wee need, and we could probably get him for 3-3.5 for 3-4 years. But honestly i want to tank next year get one of the Elite 3 from 23 NHL draft, and then start piecing together a cup worthy team starting in 23/24.
Imaging adding Lambert and say Bedard to this team along with the prospects we already have.

But teams don’t pay that price for a 1B. They pay that for a bonafide starter lol. And nieto may be good on the pk but the pens already have a ton of him. We literally just traded one because we had so many lol. The pens struggled with themselves to trade a 2nd and prospect to get a scoring winger. I doubt they’d do it for a 1B and a guy that will be their 12-14 forward

See my previous post. The pens have a better pk and just traded one of their top pkers because they have a plethora of them. He’d be at best out 12th forward and Reimer may be a good backup that could start more games than DeSmith but that usually only gets a 3rd at absolute best, probably a 4th though. I think they’d be better off finding a team that doesn’t have a legit bonafide starter and selling him there. I don’t think a team pays that much of a premium for Reimer to be their backup.

In my opinion it’d be a good bargain. Nieto would be a great option to play. He’s not just a penalty killer alone. He’s able to put up a decent amount of points as well. Definitely wouldn’t mind having both of these guys

I mean come on, the pk is better by literally one spot in the whole league. They are 2nd and 3rd. There’s zero chance that Reimer goes for a 4th, that’s laughable with how he has been this year. Sharks would be a bottom 3 team without him. His numbers would be like .930 and 2.00 if he had a decent defense in front of him.

Not for that price though. Hexy isn’t known to make those moves, much less for players like that.

Right and the pens were 1st in pk for a good portion of the year. And that really doesn’t matter if they are 1 spot worse or 20 spots worse. The point being is that the pens literally just traded one of the better pk players in the league because they have so many. They aren’t going to trade a decent pick for a pk bottom 6 forward and expensive backup goalie lol. Have you seen the goalie market this year? Ok goalies are going for “future considerations”. Why would the pens pay when they can have their choice of a 1B/backup in free agency?

Lucas Raymond was drafted and sent back to the shl in the same year. He put up 18 points in that season. Comes back to play in the nhl and we know what he did this year. Never know what Eklund can do in nhl until he plays there. Had 4 points in his 9 game trial earlier this year.
