Description
I get into the exercise to try and get the top5 pick from ARZ and I just don’t think we have enough good assets to acquire him.

Good lord I’d love to see us come away with Slafkosky AND Wright this coming draft.

Ive seen alot of 2-3 yr deals for Romanov but I don't understand why, Like give him a 8yr 4.5-5 mil deal (Similar to Klefbom) and hope he out performs the deal by year 2

I know he's not a 4-5mil guy yet but I think in 2-3 years when the cap has increased he could easily ask for 6+ if he keeps playing well.

Here’s an idea, why don’t we tank like hell next year, not fire Martin St. Louis and try and get the first pick too?

yours is a valid point, would you rather have him sign at 22 for 8 years 4.5 mil then he is 30 and commending who knows how much say 7 plus for another 5-6 year deal (not great for the later half of that contract) or sign him 3 year 2.5 then at 25 sign him for 8 years 6.5 which takes him to 33 now his next deal is going to shorter and a smaller cap hit then what you are paying him as a 33+ year old with the first option.

I think it might be a risk and theres a lot more factors that go into it but with the second option he cant touch free agency till 33, in the first he has the option of going to free agency 3 years sooner which gives him much more leverage in that contract negotiation.

Having possibility to get Bedard or Michkov would also be great

If you have two Top 5 picks (here 1st + 3rd at best or 3rd + 5th at worst, as of now), MTL should definitely take Nemec with one of them.
