It would be the right move for the Hawks, but doubt Kane would waive for a canadian team although Matthews and Kane together would be unreal and a line of Cat - Strome - Nylander would be pretty good albeit not as good with Kane but better long term outlook for a rebuild providing Hawks can extend Nylander.

Entwistle is definitely not a 2nd liner, Raddysh should be in that spot, he's not a 4th liner. Speaking of which, Robertson isn't either if he's NHL material. Lafferty needs to be resigned. I'm willing to bet Galvas and Stillman are ahead of Kalynuk on the depth chart as well.

Can a player be retained beyond 50%?

I get that one team can only retain as much as 50% on a guy but can another team be involved to take say 25% of a players cap hit?

Answer: a third team would need to retain. in a two team deal the max is 50%
