Toronto fans think that they get to dump 8M of Mrazek for a 2nd lol

The Mrazek trade is almost as bad as the OTT trade

I'm not sure many other Leafs fans would refuse that deal.

unproven goaltender, middle 6 forward prospect and a first doesnt get a first line winger on most teams in the nhl and a guy that becomes your best forward, they can get much better

It's your choice of words...

Shane Pinto ranked 39th best prospect in the world (October 29, 2021)

Not saying all of this is gospel but "middle 6 forward prospect" is selling Pinto really short, to say the least... Every source is going to have him high because most people who follow hockey prospects recognize that he is a top notch prospect

selling short for sure, but the first and forsberg who was on waivers like 5 times last year doesnt not move the needle for a first line winger, willy trade would have to help right away, this trade doesnt make the current roster better

I'm not arguing if the Leafs should do it or not. If I was them, I'd be looking at extending Nylander instead

Problem is you didn't state the reason so it was hard to know if it was for team context or value...

But then it seemed it was because of value, so make up your mind!

Edit : also Forsberg on waivers last year doesn't matter anymore. He has played at a very high level this season and that's what teams look at. A first is always a great asset, particularly from a team that should improve but still miss the playoffs.

A top prospect with selke level center potential (careful, not saying he has Barkov/Bergeron potential), a 1st that could be top-10 and a goalie who has been breaking out is a great package.

Nylander has 2 years left before UFA, they are not making this trade (unless Dorion has another brain fart but it's another subject)

I would take the trade all day long as aLeaf. Getting a NHL goalie and centre for a total of 4 m and years of control, and 3m in cap over two years of Nylander is win for the Leafs. That extra 3m allowed to resign Mikheyev. And likely a top 15 pick too. Just makes no sense for the Senators. I would've keep Holl and Kerfoot for their final season at a total of 5.5m and not signed Barakovsky.

its both, forsberg has been a career backup and good 1 year with a small sample size, jack campbell is a prime example, its not like hes young either, this trade makes the sens better and the leafs worse, nylander becomes your best forward and tkachuk nylander norris is a great line

Yeah but Nylander is developed (soon 26 y/o)

Stutzle just turned 20 y/o (34 pts in 50 games since moving to Center in November)
Norris is 22 y/o (39 goals in last 76 games)
Tkachuk 22 y/o (30/30 powerforward)
Batherson is 23 y/o (36 pts in 34 GP)

Nylander is great and I'd really like to add him but I don't know how long you'll be able to say that he's the best among these guys. Sens also have a few more coming who could end up being very good

I also didn't think much about Forsberg before this season but he has been doing what no other Sens goalie has been able to do in the last 5 seasons : stand on his head. He's 29 y/o, it wouldn't be the first time we see a goalie breakout in his late 20's. Even if he regress a little bit, he could make a very good duo with Campbell

But it doesn't matter because Forsberg is very very clearly the 3rd piece in the deal

Shane Pinto
2023 1st round pick (OTT)

...
...
Anton Forsberg
