Initial Creation Date: Apr. 1, 2022
Published: Apr. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Edvinsson is ready to come over and play. But like Seider who people wanted to shelter and give more time to ripen, he's ready. Maybe start with Lindstrom. Gain a draft pick for Monahan while hoping he gets some confidence playing 2nd line mins. Try Vrana with Zadina and it if just doesnt work, fire Zadina into the sun. Make VGK pay for cap space in hopes Martinez returns to his home state and has less pressure.

With the cap space youve got, why spend assets on Monahan with 1 year term when you could sign a Kadri/Strome/Trocheck for simular cap hit with more term and keep the assets?

I have to agree that Martinez has value and is not a cap dump. However Vegas is in cap hell so that might lower the price.

Because we’re at a stage in the rebuild where we don’t want to sign a 27-28 year old 2C to term. We will likely need to find ours in the draft or through trade. The Monahan trade weaponizes a UFA And capspace to get more draft capital while still fulfilling the filler role Suter plays (probably a decent 3C, but we have enough “future veterans”)

I do not think we’re going to commit to anyone with major term this offseason (except Larkin and bertuzzi extensions - hopefully ASAP when it’s possible). Stevie has given out basically 0 term to anyone for three years already.

In all likelihood Edvinsson is not ready, at least not for top line duty.

AM is not a cap dump, for the umpteenth time.

I'd be fine with the Monahan trade. Suter is not a part of the future and Smith is next to worthless.
