Or hear me out, Arizona goes and gets JVR and a 2 themselves, re-signs crouse, and doesn’t need or want Weber’s contract unless you’re unloading significant assets to do it. Montreal fans keep talking about the cap savings as if LTIR contracts aren’t insured anyways. They already picked up little, they’re paying him nothing, stop the fantasy trades of unloading Weber

Well, hard pass for Anaheim. We have plenty of better Centers as well as why would we give up on Comtois already? He is cheaper, younger and probably going to be better and play a much better role in Anaheim than Dvorak would

Players on the LTIR count against the cap in the off season hence why a team willing to spend like the Habs want to move him for more flexibility even though insurance covers the real dollars.

Arizona on the other hand who actually lose money every year and are going to be playing in a college arena next season doesn’t have money to spend but also need to be cap reliant hence why they could use Weber to put him on their IR instead of their LTIR and he’ll count for over 7 mill on the cap while having almost no actual money left owing to him.

Not saying Arizona should take him for free but the structure of this deal is a half retained JVR which removes his negative value to replace Crouse in the lineup, MTL’s 2nd which will end up being around the 33-35 pick and a fast NHL ready prospect in Jesse Ylonen who was actually born in Arizona due to his father playing for the Coyotes in the late 90’s.

The reason people keep posting Weber to Arizona is because it makes sense for both teams. Yeah I think MTL will have to give some incentive but nothing huge.

This was a change of scenery deal as both players have struggled this season(Comtois more so) and I figured Dvorak could fill the hole at center Getzlaf will leave.

No way, that’s what McTavish was drafted for and he is looking fantastic

they traded weber at the deadline but the league intervened. it isn't that hard to move an LTIR contract to a poverty franchise man
