Lots of teams have gone through it, penguins did it twice, jets left for Phoenix and came back. Franchise changing first overall pick in bedard could possibly be the player that turns it around. Will be interesting also what Mathews decision is when it comes down to it, and if Toronto is ready for a retool or rebuild by contract time. Personally as a visitor to Phoenix, I loved the bars and shopping around Glendale, along with the cheap tickets was always a good time. Arizona has had a ridiculous amount of time to get there franchise on solid footing, but as long as they have ownership willing to eat the losses and away they go.
To be clear, I have zero issue with the state, the city, nor its people. I've also been there and, like you, I enjoyed myself. I'm old enough to remember the Pittsburgh situation - Mario basically saved the Pens twice. I also remember the Winnipeg, Hartford, Quebec, and Minnesota North Stars situations, but this Coyotes thing is another level of ineptitude by ownership and management.
My issue with the franchise is that they're not even trying to be competitive anymore, which is the antithesis of the spirit of sports.
Or maybe I'm just grumpy because the Habs won't land Bedard if the Coyotes do!
