Why are we trading for Martinez. And the SJ trade isn't bad, might as well use Portillo, not sounding to good there.

Because he's solid and we can get him for cheap and he helps us hit the floor

This deal would be fine for Buffalo if Couture only had 1-2 years left, but he’s got 5. By the 3 year, this contract will be ugly and hold the team back

That’s fair. I personally don’t think taking on large contracts is a good idea for Buffalo considering they won’t be a top team for at least 1-2 more years, and by then you’ll have a middle 6er in Couture making 8 mil, which is around the time guys like Dahlin, Cozens, Thompson, etc will be due for some pretty big boosts in their contracts

And other contracts will have fallen off the books, the cap will have gone up and we still have 18 million in cap space

We are all in the "Couture to Buffalo" bandwagon together. We will will it into existence.

Sharks would want a 1st coming back in any Couture trade. Preferably the VGK 1st.

It is laugh out loud funny that you said that with a straight face

I mean, other Buffalo fans said it was reasonable. Also, he’s out captain and still very productive. Plays PP1, PK1, is a beast in the playoffs, and would instantly be apart of your leadership core. Sure the contract is bad, but GMs typically pay for the player right now, not what the player is gonna be in a couple years.

Plays all situations, scoring at a .70 ppg pace with low level players on his line every night also a monster performer in the playoffs (.87 ppg). Why wouldn’t he be getting a 1st?

Because he makes 8 million a year until he's like 39?

I could see Couture waive for Buffalo honestly. Up and coming team that would like a quality veteran and couture loves the bills.
