Caps Offseason: Staying Competetive

Created by: JoelWard
Team: 2017-18 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 26, 2017
Published: Apr. 26, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Remaining cap space can be used to shore up the bottom pairing and give Bowey some more time to develop. Must admit I am worried that Vegas might end up taking Schmidt over Eller, in which case the Caps would likely need to look for another defenseman rather than going for a center like Karlsson.

I like the deal with DAL! I feel as though something like this could happen, Caps need to dump Orpik contract, Stars needs a goalie and are one of the few teams that could easily fit Orpik's contract. Good deal!

At this point, we have a number of options with Grubauer. If we can get something really good for him, I say we move him before expansion. If not, I'd be fine with Vegas taking him and not touching Schmidt or Eller. If we're going to make a serious run at a Cup next year, GMBM is gonna have to get creative. This is a good option for them, having Karlsson as our third line center. I still don't think Williams comes back, I say we let him walk and bring in another bottom six guy. Burakovsky is ready for a top six role
