Why wouldn’t Minnesota just trade Fiala to Anaheim themselves instead of making Buffalo the middle man?

I’m still not moving Comtois yet and I’m not signing a player to a big contract like that until Zegras, Terry, Drysdale and the rest are locked up .. that will get very expensive very fast

Also, there is absolutely no need in Anaheim for Mittelstadt

He is going to Wild along with 1st rounder from Bos.

    it's interesting trade.

They get player and draft pick instead of just draft pick. I think they would prefer the skill set of Mitts over the more physical Comtois since Wild already have several players like Comtois.

If Guerin trades Fiala and Casey Mittlestadt and a late 1st are the best he can get, he ought to be fired on the spot. Egregious mismanagement of assets.

If Minnesota trades Fiala they need a replacement for him, that’d be Comtois. Minnesota has no need for a bottom 6 center. This is essentially a Mittelstadt for Comtois 1 for 1 swap, and then Minnesota throws in a 1st line winger in return for a late 1st round pick. Makes very little sense to me, value is way off in my opinion too.
