Another good try to get Ellis for very little. Another person who overpays Hyman.

Still don't get it.

People still want to think that Hyman is worth over $2M when he scored 6 even strength goals. I could put out a pylon who would do the same.

Hyman is one of the best hard working players on the team. Kid may not put up numbers but his playing style fits the paycheck. PS: Great penalty killer. definetly worth the 2M

You're paying 3rd liners a good amount of money. If you push him up there now what will he want when he is UFA. Best to move him on now.

His playing style is THIRD LINE FORWARD. Nothing more. If he sees Auston's wing next year then the Leafs failed in their off season. Leivo should be given a shot there, he actually did more. But then again he had 10 points in 13 games this year so that should be worth a $6M contract extension, right?

Well some third line forwards get 3m a year....Komarov, Clutterbuck 3.5m and I imagine a lot more players. So Hyman at 2.3 may/may not be all that unreasonable at all. And Hyman did score 10 goals. Hell Landeskog and his 18 goals and playing PP time seems to warrant 5.6m and in many trades is worth two NHLers and a 1st rounder.

Except Landeskog had 4 years of 20+ goals. Hyman has had 0 years of 20+ goals. Most guys who get these deals have played more than ONE FULL SEASON. It's like giving Carrick $3M now, or Leivo $3M. Leivo in his career has a better scoring touch, so shouldn't he maybe get $5M? Hyman is an RFA. You should use it to your advantage. Problem is with Hyman he only has 2 years of control left. So if you go with him you have to go 5 years or flip him. I'd give him $2M at 5 years, but the shorter the time, the lower it goes.

Dragongrave: Well you are paying for projections in the future, not what was done in the past. Yes that is somewhat subjective but that's the basis of value. Not saying you're incorrect on but to keep on harping what a guys has done in the past or the number of games he has played in the NHL....kinda meaningless. Look at all the money that is going to paid to the Russians that may be coming to the NHL, when they haven't had played game in the NHL. Again based on projections. Zaitsev has played exactly one full season in the NHL and is expected to get 4.5m. Hyman has played more NHL games than Zaitsev, and we don't think Zaitsev is going to take 1.5m, cause he "hasn't played enough NHL games."

Ok, there is NOTHING to project Hyman to be anything more than a third line forward, and he is easily replaceable. Yes, but they are adults, older and played more at higher competition. Remember that the KHL is above the AHL.

Try to compare and apple to an apple, not a spaceship.
