Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 26, 2022
Published: Apr. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not your typical moves. After the season, between Nyquist and Holtby, Jake and Halak cap hits falling off, the team has just under 9m from those pieces to extend Miller, Bo, Nyquist and Schenn. Year after, Pearson and Myers cap hits fall off to sort out Petey, Pod, RHD and the depth players.

Maybe the CBJ trade is an overpayment.
Sure the Canadiens players are a bit older.

But I think this team is solid.

Not trading OEL, Klimovich, and a 1st for Vlasic?

I wouldn’t make the Canucks older, let alone trading Hog and Boeser for Jenner and one year of a 32 year old Nyquist. Habs would say no I think and the Canucks should too. No need for a Gallagher contract

Jackets take that, absolutely. Sucks trading the captain, but I think Jenner is at his peak (and honestly don't think he'll reproduce this year's results).

Montreal does not want or need another LHD (Dermott) we have too many already. This has been stated many times to Toronto fans.

Jenner is far more valuable to the Jackets than to trade. Jackets say no.

Boone is great, but as a heart-and-soul captain, not as a legit top-6 center. He's 28, is out with a concerning back injury, is a playdriving liability (advanced stats are not favorable), and his career year is a whopping 44 points in 59 games (or 30-19-49 in 82, take your pick on whether career year is based on rate or totals). He's valuable to the Jackets because he's the captain and because frankly we don't have a single top-6 center.

In the real world, he's not getting traded, because he means more to Columbus than to any other team, and we'd never get "fair" value. But here, if he's the centerpiece for a Boeser-Hoglander return (who both drive play well and have room to improve), you take it and never look back.

You can check the stats but Jenner was a big part of the power play success earlier in the season. Jenner is a hard worker and can do a little of everything. He is perfect for third line role. Jarmo loves the work ethic he brings. It is infectious to the locker room.

The idea was CBJ is probably in a youth movement. As much as it would pain the organization and fans, these two may not be a part of the next playoff CBJ team. Jenner more than likely would be as it seems this is his home forever. Took a solid deal and captain.

Lol I did see that depth but Dermott often plays RHD. I was thinking contract wise it benefits Montreal and at least has value coming back.

Most of our LHD guys play RD as well. Romy, Guhle, Harris, Norlinder, Clague, Niku, Fairbrother, Schueneman and Ouellet all have played RD at one time.
