A bit of an overpay, maybe, but Columbus need one to move him. I'd be sad to see Barby go (and to make him go to the Jackets, for that matter), but this is the kind of piece that would be worth it.

IF we were to trade Gavy the price is a top A prospect and young NHL player and a 1st minimum. This trade isn’t anywhere near what it takes

He's not worth that much after one great season. He doesn't have much term left either.

His value will never be higher and we have guys who can fill in his spot next season (Neighbors) who need time. Blues have arguably the deepest top 9 in the league so might as well use him to obtain a bigger position of need which is LD to play with Parayko.

He hasn’t really scratched the surface on how good he is. Dude is a player. Very solid. You don’t trade guys like him.

I think Gavrikov is very good and is a reason why I want the Blues to go after him. But he's not worth a player, A prospect and 1st round. That's just silly.

He has potential to be a consistent 25 goal scorer. Perron is still unsigned. The Tarasenko situation is not over until he signs and extension or is traded. Either way, I would think that will have to happen this offseason. And if they resign Tarasenko, I don't see them having the cap room to resign both ROR and Tarasenko. So no need to make a Barbashev move right now. Barby was expendable with Sunny here but now he is a perfect fit to the 3rd line.

Barbashev doesn't have that potential. He's 25 and never shown that ability. He's only averaging 5 shot attempts/ game and shooting a ridiculous 23.46 percent. That is an unsustainable metric. Assuming we don't resign both ROR and Tarasenko, which I think we sign one of them, Barbashev becomes more exposed. Right now he has the luxury of being on the 3rd line with two really good lines in front of him. He gets weaker defensive assignments as a result.
