Lets say the Wings sign Letang or someone similar and Hronek becomes less crucial. Is there a basis to this deal? How much do the Canucks add to make it fair?

Highly doubt the Canucks would move their best prospect for a RHD it would like be a winger in that trade and Detroit has plenty of wingers in their lineup and in the system

I doubt Vancouver would even make that trade

Thats fair but Rathbone really doesn't fit considering we wont move Hughes and cant move OEL

I don't see Detroit will trading Hronek. They don't hav a replacement or even a prospect that close to ready. RHDs like Hronek don't grow on trees if you want a good young RHD you draft him.

You are right Detroit has enough wingers. Rathbone is your best prospect but a LHD prospect doesn't move the needle much either. Edvinsson will make the team out of camp. When the Detroit's Director of Player Development says that in 2 separate televised interviews I tend to believe him. Detroit also has Johansson, Walliner and Buium. Detroit is looking for a veteran LHD to act as a stop gap for a year or 2. But they do have a few players they are targeting for that.

he can easily fit in on the 3rd pair while he develops and then take over OEL's spot at 2LD

From everything I've read it sure sounds like Edvinsson is going to play for the Red Wings next season. How he plays in training camp will decide things of course.

Honestly we need a second line centre and I don't think Vancouver wants to trade Horvat. That would be the target with Hronek.

Would make finding someone to stop gap the hole easier if he does.
