Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2022
Published: Apr. 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Entire new coaching staff. Need a free agent (Namestnikov) or a trade (Monahan) to fill the bottom 6, no harm in letting Barron/Borgstrom develop further in the AHL for one more year.

NYR make the semi-finals
2.
WPG
  1. 2022 5th round pick (PIT)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Hextall/Burke seem like the type of management who would like Stanley
PIT
  1. Harkins, Jansen [RFA Rights]
  2. Stanley, Logan
Additional Details:
NHL GM's love big heavy D, was lots of interest in him around Seattle expansion draft
3.
WPG
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Typical armchair GM trade, Detroit needs left-shot D
DET
  1. Schmidt, Nate
Additional Details:
Move didn't pan out, get back what Jets paid for him. Sucks to lose his off-ice presence, but not really room for him anymore. If Jets decide to do more of a rebuild / big shakeup, keep Schmidt and trade Dillon who is worth more.
4.
WPG
  1. Borgström, Henrik
Additional Details:
Change of scenery - let him play one year in the AHL to get his confidence up. No real risk except slightly higher salary than Vesalainen's QO
CHI
  1. Vesalainen, Kristian [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Change of scenery is needed, not really an asset that carries a lot of value at this point.
5.
WPG
  1. Monahan, Sean
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
One year left on deal, obviously a cap dump - but reportedly great in the room. Can rebound nicely if given the opportunity and playing time.

If we can find a way to get Monahan as a cap dump that would be perfect. If he rebounds then you can trade him at the deadline, and if he doesn't then we got a free 2nd round pick.

TBH this probably benefits both parties and both players though Borgstrom would have to clear waivers to play AHL I believe.

I think Detroit works the free agent market before concitering this trade. A forth is more realistic.
