Well I’d personally much rather just keep barrie for that right side rather than give up two arms and a leg to replace him with a lefty playing his offside.

Yeah but even with girard playing on his off side he is a million times better than barrier when it comes to how good he is and his contract

That trade for Girard is the equivelant of three first round draft picks, plus samorukov (a third round pick) and another third round pick....

That is literally a bigger return than Buff got for eichel....

For a fringe #2 more likely a #3 defenseman??? that's a Chiarelli type of move

It's 2 firsts with bourgault still being a question mark, Yams is not first round value he is an amazing middle 6 guy but nobody is giving a first for him. Also not only is girard a number 2 dman but half his value comes from his amazing contract (which is signed long term btwsmile ) the fact that he's only 5 mil is super valuable

The only reason Bourgault is a question mark is because he's 19 and was just drafted.... any player just drafted is still a "question mark". And is it really that amazing of a contract??
Girard has .43 points/game this year, comparable to Pionk (5.8 mil), Parako (5.5 mil), Shattenkirk (3.9 mil), Mathison (4.8 mil), and Sanheim (4.8 mil)...

He's definitely on a good reasonable contract but don't think he has done enough to have an "amazing contract" at 5 million

I will admit I was too harsh on the bourgualt thing but yes it does count as 2 firsts I was wrong.

Girard had 32 in 48 last year and the year before that he had similar rate to this year. If he can have half as good of an offensive season as he did last year and still keep up his defensive stellar play he's a top 10 dman imo

No he isn't.

5v5 on-ice rels

5v5 individual rates

All strengths individual

They have similar underlying numbers, but Barrie outperforms his underlying numbers while Girard underperforms his. Barrie also is better offensively. Girard is more expensive and smaller.
