I don't understand the want for Reilly and Soucy, and the need to trade Pageau. Sorry this isn't directed at you personally, it's a trend I've been noticing in these created teams. Lol

I'd love Debrusk that's not getting him.

Then why would the Bruins and Kraken be so eager to give away cheap players like that?

Seattle would move Soucy because futures are going to be more important to them than a 27 year old LD.

Boston thinks about moving Reilly because they've got 4 LD signed for next season (Lindholm/Grzelcyk/Reilly/Forbort) and those last 2 are the most movable for them.

Boston will have a little more than $4 mil in cap space with Bergeron to bring back. If he continues to play, he'll be there for less than that $4 mil. They're all set with no reason to make any moves. Seattle also already has a ton of draft picks. With all of their expiring contracts, I don't think they can afford to be trading more players away unless they're getting multiple in return. Call me crazy, Seattle doesn't exactly scream UFA destination the way that Vegas did in the beginning.

Boston moving Reilly isn't about the cap - it's about the fact that they have more defensemen signed than they have spots in the lineup. None of those 4 LD really play RD all that well so they have an extra one. Seeing as they all make $3M+, it makes more sense to move one of them instead of tying up that much cap in a guy that's going to sit in the press box for them. No one is saying that Reilly is a bad player, but between him and Forbort, he's the younger guy and he doesn't have any sort of trade protection, so he's very easily moved. He's only paid 2x$3M and is generally seen as better than what would be available in UFA for that price point.

Soucy works from a similar standpoint - right now, Seattle has Jamie Oleksiak, Soucy, Vince Dunn, & Haydn Fleury as LHD signed for next season, along with probably their best D prospect Ryker Evans (although I would be surprised to see them throw him in the lineup on opening night next season.) Oleksiak is signed long-term for them, Fleury is probably and LD3 at best, and Dunn is an RFA after next year so would cost a little more to acquire than Soucy. You're right in the fact that Seattle might want skaters more than futures, meaning that perhaps the Islanders find a way to move one of their forwards for Soucy instead of sending picks.

because Soucy is a pending UFA and they could get a high 2nd and roster player. And the Bruins have no room for Reiily and could clear that cap...
