Is Samsonov that bad we get him for 2 late draft picks? I remember before he got to the league, he was projected to be the best of the big 3 russian goalies Sorokin, Shesterkin and himself.

Ideally he would fetch a 2nd but devils 2nd is likely high so I went w a 3rd + to avoid overreaction on this site.

That's a huuuuuge over pay for Durzi. Wouldn't even pay a 1st for him. Plus, if Caps are using a 1st and a top d prospect they need to go big for a top 6 player. Don't need defensive help.

I don't mind Lehner, but my concern is health. Dude has been injured every year he plays and just went into surgery. If you're going after a goalie go Hussa or Kuemper in UFA and save the picks and players.

The thing about Sammy is he does all the hard things (reads, athleticism, shots) extremely well but for some reason lets in 1 easy ass save a game. If he can fix his small game (tightness, balance, screens) he would be a top 5 goalie. My opinion is it's work ethic, it's why he hasn't progressed but he just turned 25 (young in goalie years) so if a team can fix his small game he'd be amazing, which is why I'm not giving him away for a 2nd and 3rd.

Yes we need a goalie but. I would not get Lehner under any circumstance as he is very injury prone and very inconsistent. I would sign Holtby in free agency and see who plays better with him. As when Holtby was last here Sammy played really well

Both are LDs though so it doesn't really fix anything for Ottawa

Lehner has consistently shown two things in his career, tat he is not the answer to your goaltending needs, and second that the luster fades very quickly.
