Cap hell year 1 take 5

Team Explanation
The more cracks at this, the more it seems a nearly impossible task to sign Fiala. Keeping him seems to require a whole bunch of actions that would be more likely to undo the fabric of the current team than simply harvesting some value in a trade for the budding superstar. The cap situation is the only reason to let him walk out the door, but it is just to difficult to pay him what it will take and still field a team when they’ll have 20ish percent less cap to use.
But even going the “trade Fiala”route led me to a whole series of transactions to get things in order.

I highly doubt Philly will trade that pick

You think they wouldn’t be interested in Fiala? That surprises me. I thought that trade idea was quite fair for an established 30 goal scorer only 26 years old.

If we wait 4 days till after the lotto and they don’t get top 5, I think Philly jumps at this deal… just need to clear cap somewhere

If the pick were in the 9-12 range I'd agree, they shouldn't move a pick 4-6 though

the only way i see the wild give up basically 3 first round picks for Chychrun is if yotes retained 50% otherwise just keep dumba and re-sign him and keep the futures.

So, you can top 5 protect a pick, but we're going to know where that pick is in 4 days. Right now it's sitting 4th, and in order to drop out of the top 5, two teams from behind Philly will need to win the lottery.

Basically, you might as well just call it a 2023 1st, because it's going to be a top 5 pick.

I'm also confused because you mention how it's impossible to keep Fiala without making other moves that disrupt the fabric of the team, but then you make those moves anyway? Take out the Chychrun trade and take out the Fiala trade and it works...

I’m confused too! Too many moves, when I tried to limit them. Probably means BG should just figure out how to make the Fiala situation work.
