The NYR have been acting like a 2017-18 version of the capitals this series. they hit us every chance they get.

it's hard to tell but I suspect guentzel is Playing hurt bc of some earlier hits and such...
game 5 was a gong show... I have never seen a gave flip so quickly and bc of such an obvious reason. Sid gets hurt and on the first shift for his wingers+Carter NYR gets a goal... then all hell breaks loose... Domingue can't make a save, our defensive structure crumbles, NYR swarm, and we're down 3-2 in about 3 minutes flat...
I have always been an advocate for letting 5-on-5 play decide games and refs not needing to call as many penalties in the playoffs...but this is ridiculous...

So frustrating what happened. This was the worst I've felt about a loss in a while and I was just worried abt Crosby with his concussion history. Rangers complained so much after Wilson barely did anything and then they do way worse and defend it. They put out a statement after the Wilson incident saying it was a "horrifying act of violence" against them, then they do way worse with Rakell, Crosby, and Guentzel. Absolutely embarassing.

I'm a Sid fan as much as the next guy but that was not malicious nor was it targeting. Just an unfortunate result. I really hope he comes back, he's been amazing to watch this series.

Came here to say this. If we were back in the days of the goons sure maybe I’d have some thoughts about the malicious intent. But a guy like trouba isn’t out their intending to injure Sid. It’s playoff hockey and guys are moving so fast all it takes is one unfortunate play to get hurt.

I mean look at what happened with Scheifele and tkachuk in 2019-20. Crushing injury to the jets top player and many felt like it had ill intent when his skate just bounced up and caused an injury.

Stuff happens, and unfortunately injuries are a part of the game. Should give the pens some much needed vengeance and jump for game 6.
