Intriguing….but I’d think TOR adds.
We know Nylander’s peak at this point, whereas I can only imagine Laine’s once he’s on Matthews’ wing. Nylander’s production is likely to go down when he’s not getting passes from Matthews/Tavares; but, at sub-$7M, it’s hard to be too upset for three years.
Nylander is UFA in three years. TOR gets to secure Laine for five here, though it’s going to be more, and no chance it is for $7M. Even now the word is $8M-$9M, and that is when he was a PPG player for a mediocre CBJ team. TOR gives him every chance to eclipse even his WPG production.
