I think there’s a mistake on the Colorado trade, you have EJ and Newhook for just a 2nd round pick.

it would likely be added to, but I'm just wondering if that's a contract colorado would dump, and what it would take for them to do it. rather than having a 6M dman on their third pair when they need to re-sign half of their roster

The Avs main cap crunch is summer 2023 (when MacKinnon needs a contract). Right now, it’s the second line needing contracts. If we spend all of EJ’s cap to bring someone like Kadri back, we probably can’t re-sign MacKinnon and Byram.

EJ is still a good player, dumping his cap would not cost Newhook. Newhook should be a core player moving forward and is on a cheap contract. Doesn’t make sense imo.
