The only thing from Pittsburgh that LA might be interested for Grans is POJ.

Vesalainen and Rasmussen have the high draft pick pedigree that boost the value via trade even though they have both majorly struggled in the NHL so far. For a team short on prospects, it is better to focus on picks or try to get guys 18-21 that seem to be over-performing compared to draft positions and try to grab them early. Going the Rasmussen or Vesalainen route could just mean trading decent value solely for where they were drafted at.

Vesalainen has been a disappointment again this year, with the Jets rewarding him with more opportunities than were earned. The prospect reports from The Athletic in September and in January were accurate and could also serve as his season-end report card: Good size, great shot, good skating, ability to make high skill plays at speed, perimeter player, questionable effort and decision making, inconsistent.

To get him, probably takes a draft pick as he'd probably be claimed on waivers by Arizona or Seattle at the end of training camp unless he has a great camp.

Not really interested in trading Rasmussen as he's being groomed to be a good shut down centre. Would take an overpayment but not much. Not sure Pittsburgh has anything of much interest to Detroit.

POJ and Kapanen? Plus a possible draft pick? Most likely at least a 2nd.

If he does end up getting traded or waived I think Pittsburgh should be a team to take the chance on him.

I think that would get it done, just tough for Detroit since they don't have much for centre depth. I would take a chance on Kapanen for that, I'm not a fan of his at all to be honest.

You mentioned centre depth. Hallander would be a better option for centre depth

He was drafted in the 2nd round in 2018. He has some potential as a two way centre. May take some extra time but I think Hextall really likes his game.

Formenton and the Sens are at a point where it wouldn't make any sense to move him for anything like future assets. He's developing well and will still be cheap as the Sens start entering their competitive window. Only trade that involves him that makes sense would be to include him in a package for a direct upgrade for a different young but already effective player. Not saying that this would happen, but the closest thing I can think of to a Formenton trade to the Penguins that I can think of would be like, Formenton++ for Marino.
