It's amazing how Liljegren went from a bust to a 4+ million dollar top 4 defender inside a couple of moths

A 5-year deal for Robertson is about the worst thing you could do for the Stars. The only thing that contract does is allow Robertson to potentially hit Unrestricted Free Agency after his age 27 season, meaning Dallas could very well lose him. Absolutely horrendous for Dallas. Either give him a 4-year deal that take him up to his last offseason of RFA eligibility, allowing Dallas to then re-sign him to a max 8-year contract or give him the max 8-year contract this offseason.

Do either one of those things, but do not give him a 5-year deal. That would be about the dumbest thing Dallas could do this offseason.

Too much for JRob. Need to get max term if you’re going that high. You forgot to buyout Suter and Faksa. Lol

Buying out Suter and Faksa would hinder us in the long-term. Our best bet is to trade those two to a floor team, Suter obviously would be a little more trickier since he has a NMC. Either way, we'd probably have to ship out some picks with them.

This is very interesting and could work out favorably for the Stars if executed. It is pretty dicey though. Does Toronto value him at $4.2M and trade someone to keep him. Highly unlikely due to TOR having about $7.6M in cap space BEFORE signing anyone. Reilly's extension kicks man forwards are on RFA/UFA deals. On the other hand, he has 24 points in 74 GP across 3 seasons, but this season was pretty much the sample size of his career. Giving him $4.2M is a big gamble all in itself off of just one good year with a good offensive team. I'd only like this deal if he shows continuous progress for DAL next year, especially since we'd only be giving up a second round pick.

Both have trade protection. Which is why Nill should follow Bones out the door
