Description
Having some fun. Trying to infuse the young lineup with some veteran experience. I know there's no way Malkin would come here, but thought it might be fun to put him between the two Russian kids. I think Chychrun is a must this offseason. Fire away.

That's not enough for Chychrun, I know its the 6th overall but from what I've been reading on this forum it seems like you need to give up more.

Also I think that's too much for DeBrusk and I want to keep Gus if that's all we get.

Do you think Columbus would be open to giving up 6th OA for Chychrun? That makes for a really interesting asset and in my mind makes you front runners.

In my mind, I believe that Jarmo is going to trade the 6th pick for an immediate, significant defensive upgrade. Chychrun makes huge sense, but as we've found with Jarmo, he will surprise you. With Korpisalo re-signed today, the GAA problem in JK/JD's minds is on the defense. Losing Jones and Savard was a massive blow to the defense and this offseason now becomes critical to reset, rebuild, retool, whatever you want to call it.
Kartana liked this.

boston trade is horrible. DeBrusk is not worth that in the slightest.
Also why are people treating nyquist as a cap dump? Did he not put up 50+ points last year and is only turning 33 with 1 year left? That's called a deadline rental

Jarmo does surprise you, haha! He's a good GM. Also interesting to hear your thoughts. I agree with you that Chychrun makes sense for Columbus. I would really like 6th OA. In a perfect world, Nemec or Jiricek are still on the board. Otherwise, Arizona can pick Cutter Gauthier.

In terms of value I'd guess Chychrun for the pick straight up is more or less fair. Top 10 picks are valuable, top 5 even more so. Maybe Columbus needs to add a little bit, but not too much. I actually think your proposal as it stands now favours Arizona.

I like Gus, he's been a stand up guy that wants to be here. If this team were going to be a contender next season, I'd keep him, but with the mode we're in, I think I'd value his 5.5M cap hit more than the 50 points. If the club decided to keep him, I wouldn't be upset about it. Just having some fun.
