I don't see a Kane trade not involving a 1st unless it involves multiple established players that would be in the middle of every NHL lineup, like the Rick Nash trade. And even then Columbus still got a 1st from it

Its certainly a valid point but I felt the prospects coming back negate the fact a 1st would be necessary. This is a win now approach for NYR if they seriously want to contend. Panerin and Kane together again with Fox and Shesterkin is an enticing prospect.

Easy pass for the Rangers. No thanks to 1 year of Kane.

I like Connor Murphy’s size and physicality but if Pens resign Letang there is no need.

And to hold Poulin and Legare all this time just to trade when they are on the doorstep is alittle odd. Plus a 2nd round pick.

All be N.Legare was hurt a lot last season and Pens had alot of wingers playing well already with Nylander, Puustinen, Poulin, OConnor, Zohorna, Angello, Hallander, Bjorkqvist, Gruden so Legare is still probably a full AHL season away from competing for a NHL spot.

But with Dumo/Letang, Matheson/Marino, Pettersson/Ruhwedel (and Friedman and POJ) no need for Murphy. And that’s a hefty price in my opinion too.

How this year & playoffs have panned out it seems Laf is and will be the better offensive player, while Kakko is developing into a Pulju type player. Big body that plays positionally excellent and forechecks but can't really produce. If I were Hawks I'd either make it Laf instead of Kakko or add a 1st. Bank on desperation and get more out of them. Columbus knows about that both ways.

Spot on, and I do agree I was trying to be partial and give NYR a little win by taking Kakko instead. I agree KD should go hard for Laf if this was on the table.

Jarmo has certainly done us good in the last couple of years.

Legare IMO would be the variable piece in this proposal. The foundation for me would be Poulin and the 2nd but I feel for what Murphy can bring its a little shy of the value.

But yes you would have to require Murphy for this to be a factor indeed.

Can be re-signed this summer and come with a deal if he wants to be in NY.

Ya, it’s probably fair value especially with his reasonable long term contract. Just not for the Pens.

Poulin is a top 100 prospect on any list out there too. U really can’t find one he’s not in the top 100 somewhere. Usually around 75-100. And POJ is usually around the 90’s.

Pens don’t have many high end prospects but those 2 definitely are. Again, top 100 prospects on any lists u can find.

Fans undervalue both Poulin and PO-J

2022 Mckeen hockey(updated monthly) - Poulin-#78, PO-J-#91

2022 mid season hockey writers - Poulin-#75, PO-J-#97

Another 2022 top 100 prospects list - Poulin #69. PO-J -#80.

You can’t find a top 100 prospects list out there(for the past 2-3 years) that Poulin and PO-J arnt in the top 100. And these arnt my opinions. These are NHL beat writers/NHL scouts opinions.

Move some cap, he will help in the pursuit of a cup and is a huge name for the lights of New York to market.

No thanks. Rather keep developing the kids and building with the draft. Maybe Chicago should just sign him?

I truly believe he will re-sign and stay on. I don't like this scenario at all, I'm just spitballing. Id like to keep Cat and Kane

This was from the point of view that NYR wanted to compete for the cup, NJD want to reach playoffs, PIT try to go again and WSH keep the window open that little longer whilst CHI tear it down.

Rangers are in the 2nd round of the playoffs, so they are already competing for the Cup. And as the 3rd youngest team in the league, they will only get better going forward so no reason to give up young assets for 1 or 2 years of aging vets. That's something Sather would do and it never works out well. With all due respect to Kane who is a great players and hall of famer, the Rangers don't need him.
