not nearly enough , Sens would have to add a Pinto, Greig or top tier prospect Dman to this package to even get Davidson's attention IMO

i remeber when Sabers fans were saying Eichel would get them 10 unprotected firsts, the best player on the opposing team, and their best prospect... DeBrincat would net something like this, proly minus a actual 7th OA, but a 1first a A- to B+ prospect a 3rd line player that is still in his early 20s and a 2nd rounder or another minor prospect.

I disagree.

I think Debrincat's qualifying offer is going to be a big hurdle. He is basically signed to 2 more years at 9M assuming he signs his qualifying offer.

Because of how large his QO is, he has little incentive to sign long term anywhere, unless he is getting huge money. He can ride out his QO for 2 years, and then hit free agency. Chicago won't get a big return for him because of this. I doubt they end up trading him at all. He'll sign his QO and they will kick the can down the road.

He makes zero sense as a target for Ottawa because of that. Ottawa isn't going to destroy their salary structure by offering him 10-11 million to sign long term, and I doubt he would agree to extend in Ottawa given it is not a desirable destination. It's not a fit at all.

While GMs would never ever tamper because that is against the rules, it wouldn't surprise me if part of the reason why the Senators have zeroed in on Fiala is because his ask on an extension is doable for them. I don't think it's a coincidence that Fiala has the same agent as a big chunk of Ottawa's core players (including Tkachuk/Norris). The only way the Senators go after an arb RFA is if they know they can get term done. I think Fiala signs a 3-4 year term deal, similar to the one Reinhart did, although for more money.
