I think his time as a player is done. I think they will use his slot to give some ahl guys a shot. (which i didnt do here) But steeves, anderson in the marlies will get legit shots.

They get a top prospect + a 1st round pick + a b prospect + a 3rd. Plus they could always trade Kerfoot at the tdl. I assume Kerfoot could pull a 1st rounder at the tdl.

Leafs don't do it in that scenario then. I definitely see Nylander to NJ being a strong possibility though. We will see if and when it happens, for what. I made a 3 way trade with Arizona a few days back where:

NJ Got:
Nylander
Leafs 1st 2022
Arizona Mid 2nd 2022
Toronto Got:
Chychrun
Arizona 3rd 2022
NJ 3rd 2022
Arizona Got:
2nd Overall.

I could see something like this happening as well.

Wouldn't Dubas have already re-signed Spezza if he were coming back? He signed Gio quickly after the season ended.

Not exactly. Spezza has to also think about what he is going to do. I assume they will regroup in a week or 2. But ultimate I do not think he will be back as a player.

mercer will be the best newfie player of all time! wish he was a leaf though. so mad we didnt draft him in 2020.

I admit I had never seen Amirov drafted 13, Mercer at 14 or Schneider at 19 play as juniors. But I thought Amirov was poor choice. Left wingers are about the easier position to man. Mercer a right handed centre or right wing would to have a place on any team. And if RHD Schneider was thought to NHL good...wouldn't you want to take a RHD instead as RHD seem to be so precious to have.

Think that’s a fair deal. Would be willing to include Zacha going to TOR or AZ to get it done as well

If Nylander goes it won't be for futures. Also no thanks to that massive Kane contract.
