If Johnny wants to come home

Created by: FighterFoos23
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: May 31, 2022
Published: May 31, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Gaudreau wants to come back home. The flyers absolutely try and sign him. If management wants a "Re-tool" or "aggressive rebuild" having a player like Johnny Gaudreau fall into their lap COULD be a massive step, like when the Rangers got Panarin, it sped up their rebuild.

Obviously these ideas are just me spitballing. Personally, I wouldn't mind Johnny coming back to town. But realistically the team should commit to a full rebuild. It isn't going to happen with this ownership group, and the flyers need to shred Cap and that is going cost a few good pieces.

Let's see what happens I guess.

Doubt LA trades Turcotte for Sanheim. If they did it would be a 1 for 1 deal.

Does JG associate Philly with home? I know there are a lot of closely located and associated areas in the NE, but Philly as home? Isn’t he from across the river in NJ?

Yeah he is from Jersey but south Jersey. Grew up like 30 minutes from Philly.

Ok, it was an honest question. The Canadian ‘media’ reports going ‘home’ for him would be the Devils.

I took it as an honest question btw. I think Jersey has always been mentioned because 1) regardless of where in Jersey he is from, it is still Jersey and 2) they have boatloads of cap space.

I like Sanheim, but I don't like him that much.

Provorov might be worth that return, though.

I think sharks would easily consider that offer, but i’m not sure the Flyers should. it’s close but i think they could get a better deal from someone else, if not that is very tempting.

In NJ, the southern portion of the state is basically all Philly sports turf. Northern NJ is Devils/Rangers turf. Gaudreau is from Salem which as someone else said is about 30 minutes outside Philadelphia. He also grew up a Flyer fan and mentioned I think back in 2016 he would love to play for Philly one day.

Leave it to the Canadian hockey media gods to get their stories correct. Love the ‘he’s going home to NJ Devils’ BS click bait articles they publish without research.
