Value is right for Kerfoot, fit is wrong - Isles don't need another middle-6 winger.

I can see the Colorado deal happening but Johnson's NTC is the big issue - is he gonna waive to go to Toronto in his twilight years? I honestly think it will hugely depend on how Colorado does this year - if they don't win the Cup, I see him staying out in Denver to finish what he started with that team over waiving to go somewhere else.

Paycuts for a better team = fantasy

Short term deals, like 1 year for Sandin (who is a RFA with rights, so he'll get more than 900k), are unrealistic because player agents can see that the Leafs will have LESS cap the next year than they have now. You're asking players and their agents to "take one for the team" when the team will likely be unable to reward the players.

Leafs are a perenial first round disappointment, and have little recent history of success, why would players take discounts for that? The last few players who took bridge deals/team friendly deals were Kapanen/AJohnsson and they got moved almost immediately.

I just dont think its a realistic idea, that UFAs take well under market deals to come to Toronto and RFAs (especially those with rights) take very short term and low money offers in the interest of the team.
