If that’s all Dubas can offer Liljegren, some other team is just gonna swoop in and give him an competitive offer via offersheet

A player has to sign an offer sheet, and Dubas can & probably does match in this what if scenario. This is essentially his qualifying offer and he's not arbitration eligible.

Probably 10 defensemen before Lilypad that are more susceptible to offer sheets, Leaves fan. Because they happen all the time...

I was looking for what Type of RFA he was because thought the same thing, but enough "reputable" blogs writing about it so I assumed they did more research than I was willing to do lol.

Fwiw Liljegren can be offersheeted here in AGM and CapFriendly usually knows their stuff. It 100% sure though, it’s a good question you raised.

Mrazek and the third offset, so this trade is an over-the-horizon first of no help to Anaheim until 2026 and Sandin for Comtois and Gibson. If Gibson is worth so little, why in the world would you want five years of him?

So if you are the GM of ANA, what is your counter offer?

Well, if you assume that he's going to give you at least 4 (out of 5) years of starting goaltending, then it would be at least Knies, Sandin and your 2022 first. Of course, half of your fellow Toronto fans don't think he's worth Mrazek and a third.

Gibson fits our window perfectly. When we're ready to move from pretender to contender in Year 3 of his contract, he should be an effective goalie who could take us a couple of rounds into the playoffs.
