The entire team except tuch and skinner need new contracts in the next 4 years. Preposterous

You also benched our captain

Umm yah exactly why he's only signed for 4 years - makes him a lot easier to move if needed. Could retain the 4 mil above his true value to anyone to clear space. Okposo, Girgs off the books after next year frees up quite a bit. Cappy is benched until injury which is almost guaranteed with our injury luck. Would split time with JJ

Absolutely no defense will be played on this team. With their Goalie track record as well, they better score 10 a night

By signing him to that insane contract for 4 years it will cost us either dahlin or Power, since they are both up in 2. All our prospects will need new contracts in that period. It's awful

Most I'd give Forsberg on a 1 year deal would be 11 mil. 13+ for a multi-year contract is baffling. 4 years of Forsberg is gonna be around 9-9.5 mil a season

With this contract, forsberg makes 54.4 million + at lease 3 mil/year for 3 years after wherever he signs = 63.4mil; compared to a 7x8.5 mil contract = 59.5 mil

Money now is also better than money later - think he takes this and runs anyway

He easily gets $9,000,000 x 7 years or $63,000,000 on the open market. Still beats $54,400,000 for 4 years with more AAV. He's no fool.

I dont think you understand. In the next 7 years, with this contract with Buffalo, he will make AT LEAST 63.4 mil. All he has to ask himself is "When I am 30, will I be worth at least 3 mil/year?" Which of course he will be. He may even still be worth 6-7. This would mean he could make a total of 75.4 mil instead of your 63. He's betting on himself, giving himself freedom to choose a new team to make a cup run in 4 years, and gets hella money in the bank rn. He takes it, runs, and laughs at Tampa when Sabres beat them first round 2022-23

disagreed. Plenty of ways to make it work. i.e. front load his contract, retain salary and trade him in year 4, salary cap also expected to go up significantly 2025-26
