Description
If I'm going for it, then I'm swinging to the fences. Obviously the pundits will jump all over this and whine in myopic tones of how "That will never happen", whatever... none of us are GM's so all criticism or compliments are irrelevant. This is for fun, not for ego-stroking.
I dump Mrazek for whatever is possible - a bag of pucks or future considerations, but getting a low pick is not out of the realm of possibility.
To acquire Garland AND JT Miller would cost a lot and I think this trade meets requirements. Nicholas Paul is NOT a future star NHL'er, sorry I just don't see it. Sandin is almost a certainty for this trade as is a 1st round pick. I would only pull the trigger on this deal if I knew the Nylander deal was possible.
I don't want to trade Nylander, but if Miller and Garland are coming back I am fine with losing Nylander. The only way this deal happens is if the 2nd overall pick is included. There is no deal without that. Nylander will absolutely draw two 1st rounders. Anything less is not worth the trade. Holl is included so Jersey gains a little more back. I am also assuming that New Jersey (possibly) signs Jack Campbell as an UFA.
Paul Stastny is offered a chance at a cup at a minimum salary - take or leave it.
Nicholas Paul and Mason Marchment are at value. Anything more is crazy. Again, they can take it or leave it, there are other options out there.
Signing Comrie as a tandem with Blackwood gives us two young goaltenders with upside. There is also the possibility of burying Mrazek in the minors until needed if a trade can't be resolved. I would NOT pay Campbell the 4-5+ million he is most likely going to want as an UFA.
Simmonds to the Marlies as a mentor role, he can be called back up as needed.
Jason Spezza is re-activated at the trade deadline. He's rested, fresh, he can still contribute, the guys love him, he can still get his 1000 pts and his name on the cup when the impossible finally becomes possible.
When I look at this team (and it absolutely fits under the cap) I see a truly scary play-off team with massive depth, physicality and size.

Forget the trades, you’re gonna be ripped apart here for the 20 man roster. You gotta fit at least 2 more guys under the cap even at league min. Can be done with just changing some of the free agent signings to cheaper guys.

That doesn't even get you Miller, let alone Garland too

Canucks decline very easily. Don’t see the Devils doing that either

Seems like you wrote a lot but still somehow managed to be way off on the values. That deal is very very very poor for Vancouver. Probably won’t even get you JT Miller

Lol on the Nylander trade. You aren't even getting the 2022 1st one for one...Makes no sense for the Devils to trade that pick for only two guaranteed years.

I agree, but that's what swinging for the fences means. Every deal comes down to whatever the other team values... neither you or I have any clue what any GM in the league is thinking or wants. But the Devils have hinted at the possibility of the 2nd pick being available for the right offer. As I stated, the deal only happens from the leafs perspective if the 2nd pick is available, otherwise it's not even a discussion. I can't see the Leafs moving Nylander for anything less than what I put here. So yeah, it most likely doesn't happen... but that doesn't mean it can't happen, or the GM's have a conversation about it... if there's conversation along the lines of "Hey, what would it take for us to get Nylander"? the response is going to be along these lines.
Crazier things have happened.

A veteran forward... a depth forward... two legitimate prospects and a first round pick... If you think that this wouldn't even get you Miller than that only shows that Miller is way over-valued in your mind. It may certainly not be enough for both of them... but your just saying stuff. That is precisely the type of price it would cost to get Miller, it may not be the players they want, but it's spot on in terms of pieces.
