Too much from the Senators POV.
Chicago would be dealing from a position of weakness. Debrincat has a 9M qualifying offer, and is 2 years away from free agency. Also, his production is way overrated because of how much scoring is up. He was barely in the top 40 scorers league wide. Point per game doesn't mean superstar anymore. There is a reason Chicago is going to try to sell high on him. He may not be the kind of player who can drive scoring on his own.
I think the package the Senators dangle for a top forward is going to be something like 7th overall, Connor Brown, and another piece like Brannstrom, Gustavsson, TBL 2nd, or a 3rd. Greig is arguably more valuable to the Senators than the 7th overall pick. He is widely considered to be a top 30 type prospect in the league, and he should be ready to make the jump to the NHL as soon as this season. Whoever the Senators could take at 7th overall might have a higher ceiling than Greig if everything goes perfectly, but they will still be 2+ years away from contributing. The Senators need to make the playoffs this upcoming season in order to satisfy their top players, their ownership group, and their fans. That is why the 7th overall is going to be on the table.
