Ken will do

Created by: oilnate
Team: 2022-23 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 6, 2022
Published: Jun. 8, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kassian is a cap dump but also a good addition for the canes. Move is made for a cap dump but definitely has more value. Adding cheap depth options at forward. Husso to replace Smith after y’all bully him and Keith into retirement. Look for oilers to trade out of first round to gain picks. Not a lot of tinkering. It’s a good team don’t go wrecking it

Jesse gets offer-sheeted and you have to retain if you want a contender to take kassian

I agree personally I want to target Kuemper. But either or with Skinner I wouldn’t complain. People drag Smith (myself included) but it’s not gonna be easy to find a goalie that’s better for a similar price. Especially free agency or trade. Kassian I think will ultimately be retained on and I believe oilers will force Keith into retirement. I also can see kane coming back with foegle being dealt as much as I think foegle will bounce back. This is more a scenario I can see than what I think will happen. Just don’t want ppl to keep blowing up this team. Yes the conference finals exposed some holes but you run it back with this group and another year for all these young players who just had their first serious run will only benefit them.

WTV Holland does is probably not aggressive enough. I have little confidence after all this is a guy that for the first time in his career fired his coach in season. Nepotism and favouritism are his two traits.
I'll never forgive him for doing so little at the 2021 TDL.
I loved his 2022 TDL move of finally paying a 2nd for a decent player in Kulak not AA but he will probably win the Jim Gregory GM of the year award which only means he will think it was because he traded for Duncan Keith!

He's not gonna retire.
We need to stop thinking this and come up with realistic solutions which means tough choices. One of Yamo Or Pool Party has to go! Kane probably cant be resigned.
Barrie needs to be offloaded even if we have to pay to do it.

When you have Giordano signing a hometown discount at 850k. I dont see why Holtby cant come home at a discounted rate after the Oilers proved they are ready to take the next step. He's 1000 times better option than Mike Smith

How is taking on Kassian a good move for the Canes? They already have enough 4th liners competing for a roster spot, we really don’t need another one, especially one that will screw our cap situation. Canes pass.

Its not!

The Oilers cant just run it back and force two players to retire as much as fans want to dream. The OP makes it sound so easy but the cap is a thing and teams make tough decisions every offseason.

Why would the canes (or any other contending cap team) take on a cap dump where they actually send a draft pick? That's moronic logic.

Fair enough Canes were a team I’d heard could be interested in a player like Kassian to provide toughness to the fourth line. Tho I think retention would be necessary

Holland just had a presser where he said the obvious as they cant run it back. The cap makes it impossible as teams wont be taking our bad contracts and pay to do it! Players arent retiring cause its convenient.

Fans are blowing it up because the Oilers have to do it! Its like saying we dont have to go to work to pay the bills, yes you have to go to work to pay the bills and yes this bill needs to be paid by offloading assets
