Detroit accepts, and if you're not keeping Kapanen please add him too.

Eh not sure just wanted to see what the team would look like. I wouldn't hate moving Carter to wing and then signing Malkin at around 5mil per year. Would mean not re-signing Rakell might have to move another contract also.

Yeah he probably resigns but I can't figure out what his other options really are.

Detroit would gladly take both Kapanen and Pettersson of your hands.

Not by himself, Add Kapanen and then perhaps.

its a salary dump and detroit knows that. i'd almost argue that detroit would want a pick too or rights to Kap as well. Look at the deals Arizona was making last year 2 seconds and Ladd for nothing in return. A second and Ghost for nothing back

yeah i agree. I wouldn't be shocked if he goes back to Russia or maybe to Florida if they don't resign Giroux. I think he's still a really useful player, his contract is just tougher to gauge than anyone else.

It is a cap move, but not a salary dump. Gostisbehere and Ladd are not comparables.

We don't have to get Pettersson, Just that he's more affordable than others. We'd do 2 3rds for both that's about it. Technically we don't need either players.

We?

Looks at standing. Looks at last years standings. The year before. The year before. The year before. Rinse and repeat. Yeah, there is a lot of need.

what's the difference between a cap move and a salary dump? not saying its 1 to 1 between Petterson and Gostisbehere but if I'm Hextall and i got offered a 4th for Petterson I'm taking it. Allows you so much more flexibility in free agency. Pens have a surplus of LD and I would really like to see POJ in the lineup consistently

Really? You can't figure out the difference between a salary dump and a cap move? I wonder what else you have trouble figuring out, like player values?
