As a chicago fan, we won't win a cup with arty as our 2c. Unless he improves at the dot.

They've won a cup without a real #2C before. Handzus was traded for a 4th round pick. Now he was better at the dot, but that's about it...you just need to be completely stacked everywhere else.

Handzus played like a 2c. And won the puck. The Hawks are a puck possession team. What do people not understand that puck possession comes from winning draws.

Well 49.9 vs 45.1 isn't too far off. And it depends if you're a stat guy or not. Stats show that face off % doesn't mean much at all. 1 win or 1 loss per game changes the % a big deal. Also, people had plenty of concern about Handzus. He just gets pardoned because he won. Kinda like vermette. Good face off guy, but didn't help out his line much more. That 2013 team was stacked much like the 2010 team.

The second line is one of the best in the league without good faceoffs, though - they gained possession of the puck even on losses a majority of the time. The problem is that Anisimov was hurt the last two years at the end of the season/playoffs,, which impacted his numbers. His career average before this year was like 46-47%, which isn't far off from Richards, with whom the Hawks won with as their 2C. His faceoff numbers are whatever, but his health will determine if he's a good 2C or not.

I thought arty was a pretty good #2C? Is he THAT bad off the draws? A lot of good centres aren't faceoff specalists but make up for it in other areas

I think you're 100% correct with this statement. He's not strong at the dot and the last 4 games it did look like me out there taking faceoffs....terrible... but that's just 4 games.

He's definitely a good 2C and that line doesn't hurt for him not being great at faceoffs - they're a strong puck possession line that scores a lot. He's exactly the type of center that works between two high offensive guys like Panarin and Kane.

The problem is he's been hurt at the end of both years with the Hawks which have hurt his already mediocre faceoff numbers. His career faceoff numbers are sub-50%, which is fine normally (just like it was for Richards in 2015) but when injured, it drops to 40% range. A healthy Anisimov at the right time is needed.
