I'm just curious... do you think the solution to an overpaid below-average goalie with 2 years on his contract is to go trade for a more expensive below-average goalie with two years on his contract?

Good gravy, did anyone read the actual tweet or hear the actual radio bit?
CJ literally said he thinks they could be interested because murray played for the soo 10 years ago. Thats it, just idle speculation with zero substance

yea i'm not so sure there isn't. toronto needs a playoff goalie and dubas sticks by his guys. it's just a numbers game really.

Haha! I was being a little sarcastic since 90% of Leaf Armchairs are moving Muzzin to LA. Like bruh we don't want Grandpa Muzzin

I mean, there is always the option to get a goalie who isnt awful and on a terrible contract. I think dubas should try that, personally

not many options out there. sounds like varly and fleury already nixed toronto and campbell sounds like he's leaving too. husso is probably the best available option but isn't proven.

Even if that is all true, which is a stretch, there still half a world away from murray being an option.

They could make it work, but why would they? Murray is awful. The leafs need a good goalie, not an awful one. They might as well trade for mike smith if they want crappy goaltending, at least he's cheap in comparison

murray's only $2.5m more considering the leafs dump mrazek too.

Except the leafs are trying to dump mrazek mostly for cap reasons not simply to get as big a cap issue back.
Even at same money, mrazek for murray is, at best, standing still and they still need cap space and better goaltending

Matt Murray is actually good... when healthy

Problem is that doesn't happen nearly as often as it should for a NHL player, which has been the story for him for like 5 seasons

Outside of his first 7 games in Ottawa (to put things in PERSPECTIVE, his defense was Nikita Zaitsev, Josh Brown, Braydon Coburn, Erik Gudbranson, Mike Reilly, Christian Wolanin and Thomas Chabot), he has been good after that, despite the popular belief

But this is way too risky for the Leafs. Can't go after a near LTIR player (unless they already know he ends up on LTIR?)

It's amazing how every goalie that gets traded to the leafs in these gets every excuse in the book as to why they are bad, but leafs goalies with similar issues dont.

I never participated in that narrative. For example, I thought Andersen was good before, during and after he was with TO

I don't really have time for all these pissing matches. I care about calling a spade a spade
