Pittsburgh doesn't have the pieces for Tyler Bertuzzi, So i know they can't afford Alex DeBrincat. Add at least Jake Guentzel not a bunch of nothing.

Jake had more points per game and goals per game this season while being better defensively and has more term at a lower number. Really the only advantage cat has is age imo

A trade for cat would not involve guentzel, being my point. I think it could (it won’t but it could) happen tho, it would probably include Marino a couple prospects and draft picks

I don’t think Guentzel is better defensively than Debrincat, pretty much ever stat I’ve seen puts Debrincat in front. Production wise they’re pretty identical players in my view. Guentzel scored slightly more, Debrincat played on a team where he and Kane were the only real offensive threats. Overall I think they’re pretty similar as players for whatever that does for the value comparison.

In the end though, Pitt just doesn’t have the pieces to get it done. If they’re moving Debrincat it’s because they think he will be approaching the end of his prime when they are ready to contend. Marino is older than Debrincat. At the end of the day, the Hawks are going to want multiple high-end picks/prospects, which the Pens really just don’t have.

I agree it won’t happen. But I will still say it could happen if we sold the farm. Poulin, POJ, Blomqvist and 3 first rounders would definitely get it done imo
