I think this could work nicely.
A decent young D man, a promising F coming off a down year (so the RFA contract shouldn't be too bad) and excellent goalie prospect (which CHI needs), a couple picks including a first, and a Cap hit to make the #'s work.
Would be a very competitive offer in the market.

Drew Commesso is a great goalie prospect That CHI already drafted

the deal is interesting for sure. I think that the 1st rounder has to be taken with a grain of salt considering it will likely be a late rounder unless something drastically wrong happens in Carolina. I don't see this being as competitive as what the Kings or the Devils can offer.

The extra d men also just clog up the back end, instead of allowing some of the young guys the opportunity for some ice time up in the show

Goalies are the toughest position when it comes to prospects. Until one has proven himself, you need to keep the cupboard stocked.

Gardiner has been cleared to play, but I can almost guarantee he'll wind up back on LTIR possibly as early as training camp. He's just a cap swap. Bear could actually turn out to be something good playing on a young team, and the CHI D pool is not that deep.

Right now the blackhawks realistically have 4-5 D that are going to get time up in the NHL so having bear just eat up a spot taking it away from a younger developing player wouldnt be productive for the development process

I really doubt Carolina is going to give up Kochetkov

Makiniemi is pretty good but I know its not the same
