Jt Miller extension has to be 8 years @ 3m AAV for the Canes to do this. It just doesn’t make sense to trade this many future assets for a Player I’m almost 100% sure the Canes wouldn’t sign long term.

Ottawa doesn't want/need Garland. We have Greig who will be better anyway.

Ottawa would want garland he has a lot of term and isn’t costing them too much

Ottawa would probably take that deal if you removed the 3rd

JBD is that core piece on the right side as he will fit the team and need better than Thompson. There is a reason that all Vancouver fans want JBD.

Also Grieg will be controlled for way longer and will end up being twice as good as Grieg. And Grieg is close so I don't see a need for Garland. Just go out in free agency and get a good player.

Why are Sens fans talking as if Greig is already a sure thing?? He hasn't even played an NHL game yet

Fair enough, but he played really good in the preseason and was one of the best players in the WHL so I think that it's safe to assume that Garland is not needed for the Sens cause Grieg is going to bring that plus he is a center that can play wing. He was also one of the only players under 6FT that P.D. has drafted so the organization is really high on him and rightfully so as he has been amazing.

*facepalm* Rule no. 1 of asset management: Never assume a certain prospect is a sure thing to occupy a roster spot in the bigs until they actually prove themselves at the NHL level

Sure, but hey, we got a very similar one to Garland in the systems that is doing great.

So we DON'T need Garland.

Doesn't necessarily mean he'll bring the same level of impact as Garland when he DOES make it

Yeah, but one of the biggest things in sports is diversify you're offense so the Sens don't need a very similar player to the one that they already have. He also is grossly overvalued by some Canuck fans because he was acquired along with OEL for the 7th overall pick so Ottawa says no thanks and we will get a good forward in free agency or through the draft.

There are no Canucks fans overvaluing Garland, it's other fanbases undervaluing the player

That's always the argument on this site but when everyone is overvaluing a player then the majority is saying that's what is value is. It's been only Canuck fans on this site that have Garland going for the 7TH OA pick +.

Like if you look at other teams that are trading for Garland they'll be more reasonable cause they don't have a considerable bias towards the players.

I have not seen a single Canuck fan asking for the 7OA + for Garland in any ACGM's, there is no such bias

Ottawa is looking for a forward that can make an impact NOW. Free agency is a possibility of course, but a similar type player will cost Ottawa more in term and dollars, something they have never been amenable to. Also, Ottawa is not exactly a free agent destination of choice. That is precisely why Garland is such a good fit for Ottawa. I get that fans (on this site in particular) fall in love with their prospects and picks, but at some point teams leave that part of their rebuild behind and start to spend their assets. Ottawa has very heavily indicated that they are looking at this type of move.

We don't want Garland, or anybody you have, we need JBD so much more and he is the key piece that is going back. He is the future top 4 RD for the team. We already have Grieg and we could get Fiala or somebody else for a lot less assets and upgrade our team even more.

So, yes, Ottawa is looking at an upgrade in the forward position but we don't need Garland cause that is not the type of player we are looking to put next to Stutzle. Greig probably could be a better winger anyway.

Sure, but at least Minni fans have stopped being delusional about how much it will take to get him. There is also is a commonly accepted trade that is Jarventie + 2022 1st for Fiala.

The only trade proposal that matters is the one Minny actually takes. I doubt that's it.

They are "ideas" and "hypotheticals" based on "perceived" values and needs and worth exactly what that is worth LOL. If you ascribe ANY meaning to ANY of the proposals on this site, well that is just foolish.

Just to illustrate my perspective:

How many Blackhawk fans on this site would have been emphatically against the Seth Jones trade? I'm going to guess conservatively well over 90 percent.
How many Tampa fans would have been emphatically against the Brandon Hagel trade?? Again, I'm going to guess conservatively well over 90 percent.

GMs do what GMs do, without regard to what Cap Friendly posters think LOL. That's just how it is.
