    Sheeeeeesh

Let others also compete for the cup

Or at least that's what I would say if this team was actually better from last year, but it's basically the exact same team with the addition of Mikheyev and Byron, and honestly if wasn't offense were they were lacking. It was defense.

If they get all that extra money, they need to invest to an actual 1D. Nurse is not good enough for that role, even though he's paid like one.

Doesn't that contract carry Puljujarvi directly to free agency?

would you think then maybe drop mikheyev and maybe look to sign manson instead? or someone like klingberg or letang
though i feel like klingberg/letang would be too expensive since the oilers also have goalie problems (skinner is the last guy left and no chance he can be a starter imo)

If they can get Letang at reasonable price they should definitely consider it.

Klingberg is a fantastic 2D in a team but he's no better than Nurse. Manson is a depth D which they don't really need, they need a first pair guy.

problem with getting letang is definitely the price. if he's gonna command 7-8M the oilers have to stay away from it because they cant afford that.
klingberg and manson i believe are only good options to be like balancing defensemen. if a team has, say, 4-5 guys who are ideally second pair guys its good for depth but not good for starpower, which i see is your point

It depends. If and only if Keith and Smith retires they definitely could afford him. Yeah that means Kane is going as well but once again, offense is not much of a problem for them.
