Pens say no. It'll take more to get Marino than just garland straight up. Try Garland and a high draft pick, then we'll talk.

No im not. I dont think you understand how good Marino is...

Garland's good yes. But Garland + 2nd rounder is a way more realistic price than just one for one.

If anyone here is kidding themselves its you.

You have ZERO right to talk hockey if you think Garland is better than Marino...

Literally educate yourself.

Says you buddy. I analyze players all day at work since I work nights and have nothing to do. I look at stats, analytics, contracts, age, intangibles, and watch film on guys. I am very confident in my ability to evaluate players. The ONLY people saying Garland is better than Marino is canucks fans.

Hell, the reported deal that fell through at the TD this year (before the Pens traded for Rakkell) was Garland + Hoglander for Marino and a 4th... THAT is where Marino's value is in the real world. In your fantasy land he's worth less than garland, come on down to the real world and join us here...

Minnesota passes.

And Kevin Fiala isn't taking anything less than $8,000,000 x 8 years.

That's fair, but it doesn't mean the trade isn't fair value wise

I just think Marino is more value based on the positional and team needs.

Top 4 right handed D are more rare and thus more valuable than top 6 wingers.

Also Pittsburgh doesn’t really need to do this trade. If they traded Marino, they would need to go out and replace him. In this act they would also be letting rakell walk. I would rather just sign rakell and keep Marino.

Miller is a different story. I would be happy to include Marino in a package for him.

Positional distinction isn't enough to make Marino more valuable than Garland

Honestly as a fan of both Pens and Canucks a Marino for Garland or Boeser deal doesn’t happen unless if Pittsburgh has a good back up plan to replace Marino. But I don’t see that happening as the RHD market isn’t very deep in FA this year and a lot of RHD in the trade market would be a steep price to pay. A lot of prices for RHD in the market would start off with a 1st and I don’t see Hextall trading a 1st. And personally I’d rather not trade Garland or Boeser. It’s hard to see either of our players being traded for another’s teams top 4 RHD after seeing the Kings being resistant to trading one of their RHD to the Canucks and they are heavily stacked on the RD side. If Pittsburgh wants a top 6 winger, there’s some good ones in the FA market this season.
